From 18 November 2025, all company directors and people with significant control (PSCs) will be legally required to verify their identity under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023. This requirement is part of wider reforms to help prevent the misuse of UK companies
Each company will need to provide a personal code and a verification statement for each director on the confirmation statement. If you do not do this, your company or anybody filing on your behalf will not be able to submit the filing.
If you’re a director of multiple companies, you’ll need to do this for each company separately, using the same personal code each time.
Failure to submit the annual confirmation statement for a company will ultimately lead to Companies House dissolving the company and any assets held being transferred to the Crown.
Compliance with these new rules is therefore of the utmost importance.
